NEW GRADUATE CERTIFICATION FAQ
I completed the course & passed the exam, but I am not ready to certify right now. How long do I have to complete my certification?
+For new graduates, we allow a 6-month grace period for completing certification after the program ends. Please note you must complete the course on-schedule, pass the exam, and sign the agreement with the rest of the class, even if you are planning on delaying your certification.
Some common reasons you may want to delay your certification:
- Pending graduation/licensure from base certification
- Not having practice or liability insurance set up yet
- Illness, family situation, or pregnancy
IMPORTANT: If you delay your certification you can not use some of the benefits that come along with being an AIP Certified Coach UNTIL your certification is officially complete. This includes marketing yourself as an AIP Certified Coach, using the AIP Certified Coach mark on your website, social media, or marketing materials, or being listed in the AIP Certified Coach directory. These benefits will be granted to you upon certification after submitting your license, insurance, and website listing information.
If you would like to delay your certification, simply reply to our admin email seeking the documentation and information for final certification, letting us know that you will be delaying certification and your reason for doing so for our records.
When you are ready to complete your certification, within the 6-month grace period following the program, simply reach out to us by email letting us know you are ready to complete your certification. We will then send you a request for all information and documentation to complete your certification. Please do not email us ANY documentation attached to email as we can’t accept submissions this way. Please note that response times from our admin team can take 1-2 weeks during times of the year when we are not actively teaching classes or processing recertifications, so please be patient with us!
What happens if I delay my certification and miss the 6-month grace period for completing certification?
+If you miss the 6-month grace period for completing certification following the program, you need to wait until your cohort’s next recertification period (approximately 1 year following graduation). At that time, you will receive a request to pay the recertification fee ($35) and an opportunity to submit your documentation in order to complete your certification.
If you are certifying for the first time during your cohort’s recertification period, simply reply to our admin email about recertification letting us know you’d like to initiate the certification process. We will then send you a request for all information and documentation to complete your certification. Please do not email us ANY documentation attached to email as we can’t accept submissions this way.
If you delay certification and miss your cohort’s recertification window, your next opportunity to certify will be the following year’s recertification month (approximately 1 year later). Please note we cannot process certifications outside of these annual windows, so plan accordingly.
What if I do not want to complete my certification, but I’d like to stay informed and connected to the practitioner community?
+You may not wish to complete certification or be listed in the AIP Certified Coach practitioner directory, but are interested in staying informed and connected to the AIP Certified Coach community. We’ve created a non-certified member option especially for you.
As a non-certified member, you will continue to receive the AIP Certified Coach bi-annual alumni newsletter (containing updates to the protocol, handouts, coach features, and science articles from Dr. Ballantyne) and access the private practitioner forum on Facebook. The process of renewing as a non-certified member costs the same ($35) and is processed at the same time as your cohort’s recertification.
If you are sure you don’t want to complete certification and want to become a non-certified member instead, simply reply to our admin email about certification or recertification and let us know you will not be seeking certification and would like to be a non-certified member instead. Going forward, you’ll only be asked to pay the membership fee annually during your cohort’s recertification period.
IMPORTANT: If you opt to become a non-certified member you can not use the benefits that come along with being an AIP Certified Coach. This includes marketing yourself as an AIP Certified Coach, using the AIP Certified Coach mark on your website, social media, or marketing materials, or being listed in the AIP Certified Coach directory. These benefits can only be granted to you upon certification. By becoming a non-certified member, you understand you will not have a right to use these benefits unless you go through the steps to complete or reactivate your certification.
I submitted my information, how long will it take for me to receive my certificate and mark?
+All certification submissions are processed manually by our administrative assistant and are processed in the order they are received. As a result, please allow 2-3 weeks for your certification to be processed before reaching out for a status update. If you have not heard from us after 3 weeks, please feel free to email us or submit a request through our contact form.
ALL GRADUATE RECERTIFICATION FAQ
What is recertification?
+After graduating from the AIP Certified Coach program you were asked to show proof of base license/certification, liability insurance information (if applicable), and submit information to be included in the AIP Certified Coach directory, to complete your certification. This certification lasts one year, and every year thereafter, each practitioner must “recertify” by submitting documentation demonstrating their base license/certification and liability insurance are up-to-date, as well as update their directory listing details, if desired.
We require recertification to ensure that the AIP Certified Coach directory contains listings for practitioners that are currently practicing, fully insured, and with accurate contact information. We actively promote and refere the public to this directory to connect with a coach, so we want to ensure that it is full of providers who are fully qualified and seeking to easily connect with potential clients or patients.
In addition, recertification helps us identify practitioners who want to remain a part of the AIP Certified Coach alumni community and receive updates to the protocol, handouts, science, and connect through the AIP Certified Coach alumni forum on Facebook.
IMPORTANT: If you opt not to recertify you can not use the benefits that come along with being an AIP Certified Coach. This includes marketing yourself as an AIP Certified Coach, using the AIP Certified Coach mark on your website, social media, or marketing materials, or being listed in the AIP Certified Coach directory. These benefits can only be granted to you upon certification, and are relinquished if you choose not to recertify.
How often is recertification?
+You will be given the opportunity to recertify once per year, during the month of April or September, depending on the graduation date of your original class (Spring or Fall).
How much does recertification cost?
+Recertification costs $35. This helps cover the website and administrative fees that allow us to maintain a quality directory and a high-standard among AIP Certified Coaches, in addition to providing benefits like a bi-annual alumni newsletter and moderated alumni forum on Facebook.
When is my annual recertification period?
+There are two recertification periods each year, one in the spring (starting April 1st and ending May 1st) and one in the fall (starting September 1st and ending October 1st). If you were a spring graduate, your renewal will always fall in April. If you are a fall graduate, your renewal will always fall in September.
What if I don’t receive email reminders about recertification?
+It is your responsibility to keep your contact email up to date with us and to make sure our email address is whitelisted in your email provider. We have no way of knowing if your information has changed or if our emails are going unseen by you. You can update your email address with us using the AIPCC Contact Information Change Form.
You can find simple instructions for whitelisting our email address with your email provider in an internet search of “email whitelisting instructions.”
What do I need to provide in order to recertify?
+At the start of your recertification window, we will send you an email which provides directions for paying your $35 recertification fee through PayPal and submitting the required documentation. Required documentation is a current copy of your base certification/license and proof of your currently valid liability insurance. If you practice in the United States or another country where liability insurance is available, you are required to maintain appropriate insurance coverage. If you practice in a country without the availability of liability insurance, we ask you to provide a dated statement indicating such for our records. Please note that we need to see copies of your documents for recertification even if nothing has changed or expired since your certification or last recertification.
What if I can't use PayPal to pay the recertification fee?
+If you can't use PayPal to pay the recertification fee, please email us at aipcertified at gmail.com for an alternate payment option.
If I do not complete recertification during my recertification period or I am not interested in recertifying, what happens?
+If you are no longer interested in marketing yourself as an AIP Certified Coach or participating in our professional community, you can simply reply to the annual recertification reminder email stating that you no longer want to participate.
IMPORTANT: If you opt not to recertify OR if you fail to complete recertification you must cease using the benefits that come along with being an AIP Certified Coach. This includes marketing yourself as an AIP Certified Coach, using the AIP Certified Coach mark on your website, social media, or marketing materials, or being listed in the AIP Certified Coach directory. These benefits can only be granted to you upon certification, and are relinquished if you choose not to recertify.
If you are interested in not recertifying, but you want to continue to stay informed and connected to the AIP Certified Coach community, see the following question about becoming a non-certified member.
What if I do not want to recertify, but I’d like to stay informed and connected to the practitioner community?
+You may not wish to recertify but are interested in staying informed and connected to the AIP Certified Coach community.
If you are sure you don’t want to recertify and want to become a non-certified member instead, simply reply to our admin email about recertification and let us know you will not be seeking recertification and would like to be a non-certified member instead. Going forward, you’ll only be asked to pay the membership fee annually during your cohort’s recertification period.

What if I want to switch from being a non-certified member to an AIP Certified Coach?
+If you are a non-certified member wishing to complete the process and become an AIP Certified Coach, you have that opportunity during your cohort’s recertification period (once per year). To do so, simply reply to our admin email about recertification letting us know you’d like to initiate the certification process. We will then send you a request for all information and documentation to complete your certification. Please do NOT email us documentation attached to email as we can’t accept submissions that way.
If you do not complete your certification during your cohort’s recertification period, your next opportunity to certify will be the following year’s recertification (approximately 1 year later). Please note we cannot process certifications outside of these windows, so plan accordingly.
What If I want to make changes to my directory listing outside of my certification/recertification window?
+At this time discretionary directory changes can only be made within your recertification/certification window each year. However, if you need to make an urgent change such as changing your address following a major move. You may email us and our administrative team will assist you on a case by case basis.
Please note that response times from our admin team can take 1-2 weeks during times of the year when we are not actively teaching classes or processing recertifications, so please be patient with us!
