After suffering for almost two decades with a debilitating autoimmune gut dysmotility disorder and getting nowhere with an allopathic approach that focused on prescription medications only, I finally started my road to wellness by addressing my nutritional deficiencies, stress and lifestyle choices. I’m a boymom, hockey mom, wife and work full-time, so I understand how overwhelming all of this can seem in a world full of appointments, practices, deadlines and then some. When my oldest son was diagnosed as Celiac, I was able to successfully lean on AIP to help us through that transition period.
My focus is on helping people meld together the multifaceted approach that is required to truly bring your health and wellness back into perspective. With a B.Sc. in Biology and Chemistry and my certification in Functional Nutritional Therapy, I have a deep love and understanding of the human body and what our cells truly need to function in a capacity that reflects life and vitality. I look forward to connecting with you to see how I can help you regain the health that you’ve lost.
Alexa Federico, NTP Nutritional Therapy Practitioner
Hello, I am Alexa Federico, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner certified through the Nutritional Therapy Association.
When it comes to dealing with health issues, especially autoimmune issues, there is often more than one factor causing symptoms. I consider each client as an individual including their condition, diet, and lifestyle in order to work together and create a plan. I really live by “food is medicine,” and I like to use food first and foremost as a form of medicine because it can have an incredible impact on health. Coupled with lifestyle changes (I.e. stress, sleep, healthy relationships, etc.) and supplements when needed and as agreed upon by the client, I help people resolve their symptoms in a safe way.
After being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was 12 and following only western medicine protocols for one year and failing miserably, I found my sweet spot for health after incorporating changes to my diet, lifestyle, and supplements.
I specialize in digestion issues and autoimmunity. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Are you willing to be more than just ‘meh, fiiiiine…’?
Are you prepared to dig deeper into your health issues? I mean really understand the nuts-and-bolts of YOUR health ‘knots’?
Are you ready to step outside your comfort zone to find out what works (and what doesn’t) for you so as to untie these knots?
Are you okay with the idea of working on improving your current behavioral and lifestyle habits?
Do you wish to become the master of your own health? To finally be at home in your body?
If you’re ready to build an energetic, healthy future that will tilt your world on its axis, let’s connect!
Hi, I’m Shari. I’m a functional RD (living on the tiny island of Mauritius) for people who want results. And are ready to do the heavy-lifting. (Don’t worry; I keep it real – if you have a mortgage, I won’t ask you to quit your job and become a full-time knitter of tiny pirate scarves for hamsters.)
— What kind of RD am I —
I was trained as a conventional RD. Life events (read PCOS and juvenile arthritis + lots of autoimmune issues in the family) encouraged me to relearn everything. You see, implementing conventional nutrition guidelines was making me sicker. And they weren’t helping my patients.
Over the years, I have specialized in nutrition for PCOS and digestive health.
— What to expect if you work with me —
Coaching with me goes deep – we won’t just look at what you eat or how you sleep. We’ll also explore why you eat the way you do, what you’re really hungry for. We’ll get underneath the excuses to unleash the stuff that is really holding you back from becoming a healthier, happier version of yourself.
And yes, I’ll keep you accountable.
Because if you say you’re going to do something, I’ll totally check in to see if you did!
This way, with my 100% support, YOU will craft your very own health guidelines.

I have been in the realm of counseling since 14 years of age, working as a peer-counselor in a local community-based program in Forest Hills, NY. It is where I found my passion working with individuals and communities in teaching health and lifestyle with the goal of outreach and making the world a better place one person at a time. I have been practicing as a Registered Dietitian/ Nutritionist for over ten years, during my foundational education in the nutrition field I worked as a Personal Trainer for seven years where I saw firsthand just how much personal transformation I can inspire in people and that further fueled my love for the field of life-style medicine. Although my basic training had a lot to offer, I always felt that there was more information that existed which I can use to empower individuals to create sustainable change, and so I found Functional Medicine several years ago and since then never looked back to just the standard care models. My own-personal transition, transformation and health challenges has empowered my ability to help heal those under-my care. I am a firm believer of practicing what I preach! I incorporate science and history to create open-minded practice frameworks and believe in the process of continued lifelong learning to the universal betterment.

Hello- My name is Julie Hoskin. I’m a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner practicing in Santa Monica, CA as well as virtually. I became passionate about helping others heal from autoimmune disease after restoring my own health which had declined dramatically after the onset of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. I am a firm believer that fatigue, anxiety, joint pain, and skin issues are not the necessary results of “getting older” or “having kids”. By giving the body the nutrients it needs and getting rid of the inflammatory foods it doesn’t, the body can do wonders! I was not a particular “foodie” or disciplined eater before making these changes for myself, so have a lot of compassion for those who struggle with eating well. I have a lot of down to earth tips in my arsenal and patience for those who prefer to build habits slowly and steadily. I’d love to chat, please give me a call!

As a Certified Nutrition Consultant and Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist based in the Bay Area, I help people improve digestion, enhance mental clarity and boost energy to thrive daily!
My pursuit of nutrition stems from a love of food and cooking as well as the science of human nutrition. I enjoy good food and I want to help everyone enjoy what they’re eating while having it help the body. My nutritional journey has been evolving over the past few years so much so that I wanted to help others silence their digestive issues too. I have struggled with my own digestive symptoms for years, which too a long time to be recognized as a chronic case of SIBO. Food has been such a powerful tool for my healing and I believe everyone should be able to feel good in their body to live an energetic and fruitful life fueled by delicious food with proper nutrition.
I work with clients to develop a personalized plan to support them in reaching their goals within their own lifestyle. Together we focus on blood sugar regulation, getting to the root cause of digestive symptoms, and overall inflammation.

I’m a functional health coach, FDN-P, and an AIP Certified Coach. I’m also a second-year graduate student in the MS-FMHN (Functional Medicine and Human Nutrition) program at UWS. My passion and purpose is to help fast-track those that are in the same health crisis I was once in.
I typically work with special individuals impacted by chronic systemic inflammation and psoriatic conditions of the joints and soft tissues.
As a life-long sufferer of chronic fatigue, psoriasis, and psoriatic arthritis, manifesting as an endless roster of chronic and relentless mystery pains, endless doctor visits, and questionable (toxic) drug therapies, I’m not shy to say I know a thing or two about living with autoimmunity and the living hell that it actually is. Not to mention the embarrassment, shame, and feeling of isolation, that comes with the package.
I spent my childhood complaining about “feeling so tired”, all the time. Doctors – and there were many – had zero explanation for my chronic ‘tiredness’. In my late teens and early adulthood, the diagnosis invariably transmuted into a question… “maybe you’re depressed?” “Maybe you drink too much milk?” “Maybe you eat too much red meat?” “Maybe you need antidepressants?”
I received a battery of standard-issue immunosuppressant/ DMARDs, biologics, phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors, and vague dietary and exercise-regimen suggestions. My health and quality of life continued to deteriorate to the point of being virtually bed-ridden for almost a year, barely making it to work, and sleeping through the weekends.
Through research, experimentation and the assistance of alternative health modalities, and hiring my own functional health coach, I was able to turn-the tide, to regain a marked improvement in health and my life!
I am a living example of the transformative power of proper nutrition, lifestyle, holistic healing modalities and functional science.
If my story sounds familiar to you, I’d like to help.

Hello, my name is Katie and I’m an AIP and life coach. As a health and wellness expert, I am dedicated to helping you transform into the best version of yourself, on your schedule. My goal is to work with the client to help them build the future they desire and activate all the necessary resources they may potentially need on this journey to reach personal goals. It involves drawing out people’s strengths, helping them to bypass personal barriers and limits in order to achieve their best version of themselves. While working with my clients I’m concentrating on outcome-oriented goals rather than problems. In this way, I’m promoting the development of new strategies for thinking and acting rather than trying to solve the problems and past conflicts.
