Hi I’m Kate Jay, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Restorative Wellness Practitioner, qualified chef, and author of The Autoimmune Protocol Reintroduction Cookbook.

My passion is helping you to understand and love the food that your body needs, in order for you to heal.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1997 and lived with symptoms, despite medication, for years. My brother’s death in 2008 triggered a downward spiral in my health, and by 2014 I was living with crippling anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations, joint pain and symmetrical swelling. Despite having a strong family history of Rheumatoid Arthritis and elevated markers for the disease, my doctor adopted a “wait and see” attitude.

When I decided to advocate for myself I came across the Autoimmune Protocol. There weren’t many resources back then so it took a while to find. But the results were astonishing as over time my symptoms reversed, along with my inflammatory markers. I was able to get off my long term thyroid medication and reclaim my life.

I know first hand how powerful the Autoimmune Protocol is. Additionally, my Restorative Wellness certification allows me to run and interpret lab tests for gut health and hormonal imbalances, which are often highly complimentary to the protocol.

When you work with me we’re a team – you could say I’m in the passenger seat with the road map, and you’re the driver! Rather than putting a band-aid on symptoms, I’ll help you to dig deep and find the reason for those symptoms. I’ll help you navigate the elimination phase and set you up for successful reintroductions. I’ll be by your side with guidance, support, motivation and accountability.

What’s more, you’ll learn how to take control, advocate for yourself and enjoy happy, energetic and lasting health and wellness.

I now work 1-on-1 with clients to help them address their health concerns and improve their quality of life. I strive to instill in them the same passion for health & wellness that I now have – it’s life changing!

My name is Elaine Damerau Swanson and I am an autoimmune thyroid patient, I am now thriving, living and loving life in a way I was never able to. I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, HTMA Practitioner and an AIP Certified Coach. I am also a mother, wife and grandmother.
I have Hashimotos, Graves’, Hypothyroidism, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Macular Degeneration. My Hashimotos and Macular Degeneration are currently in remission. So that right there may give you a clue on why I help others with thyroid disease and with autoimmune disease!

My earliest symptoms of thyroid issues and poor health began as a child being prescribed anti-depressants by the age of 9 and suffering constant illnesses and utter exhaustion without diagnosis.

At age 18 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. At age 20 I was finally diagnosed with Hashimotos. It would be almost 20 years before a Doctor put me on thyroid medication due to my TSH never rising above 3 (Proper testing of my actual thyroid hormones, I suspect would have had me on thyroid hormone replacement much sooner!) In my late 30’s my Rheumatoid Arthritis went into remission (returning in my 50’s) and in my late 40’s my Hashimotos went into remission.

It was not until I was in my 40’s that I was able to begin unraveling this health mess I was in. Reclaiming my life was part proper hormone replacement and part nutrition and part digestion work. I was finally at a point I could truly grasp things to learn in my late 40’s and went back to school with a fierce determination that I would help others to NOT spend their lives exhausted, in pain, miserable and in such a state of brain fog that learning or communicating were virtually impossible.

Becoming an AIP Certified Coach seemed like a no brainer! AIP can be lifechanging to those of us with Autoimmune Disease. Having an AIP Coach who has walked in your shoes and can guide you through the sometimes-overwhelming AIP eliminations, can also be a true gift to your journey.

Lindsay Peter-Contesse, MS, RD, LDN Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist and AIP Certified Coach

Nashville, Tennessee

Hi, I am Lindsay Peter Contesse, dietitian and owner of Nashville Autoimmune Nutrition, LLC. I specialize in autoimmune diseases and gut issues. Autoimmune diseases are complex and present differently for each person. From sorting through recommendations of food choices, supplements, medications, or even being told there is no solution, or “It’s all in your head,”—it can be completely overwhelming. I focus on the whole person in approaching these issues with clients by looking for the root cause of symptoms, and addressing all aspects of the client’s lifestyle, including nutrition, stress, sleep, movement, and more.

Managing chronic illness can be exhausting, confusing, and lonely. The journey to healing is not always a straight line. I provide a comprehensive assessment and ongoing support to make adjustments in your journey to healing. Follow up appointments allow for discussing progress, adjusting nutritional & lifestyle plans, and creating manageable next steps.

Each client is different. Some common goals include: symptom relief, healing, and regaining a better quality of life. In working together and setting goals, we ensure they are realistic, achievable, and will work within your lifestyle. If anything above resonates with you, I would love to hear your story.
